Donald Trump on Friday postponed the implementation of sanctions against Russia and trade tariffs against Moscow’s partners, as предусмотренные by the Lindsey Graham law. According to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the president will assess the effect of these measures over 60 days.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday issued an order that postpones the implementation of sanctions against Russia and trade tariffs against Moscow’s partners, as предусмотренные by the Lindsey Graham law, сообщает The Moscow Times.

This concerns extremely harsh measures against Russia’s oil and defense sectors, as well as against the shadow fleet. These measures were supposed to take effect this week.

Trump’s order does not say how long the postponement will last. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the president intends to assess the effectiveness of the sanctions and tariffs over 60 days.

Rubio added that during this period Trump wants to analyze what the introduction of these measures will mean for the global and American economy. He made this statement to journalists before departing for Uzbekistan.

The law was passed by the U.S. Congress and signed by the president in September. Trump said on Saturday that he had not yet made a final decision on imposing sanctions and tariffs on Russian exports.

On Sunday on the Truth Social network, Trump wrote that he does not want to «stupidly» push Russia away from the negotiating table, and that he is guided by this in his decisions.
